Four years ago, I recorded short material that I pulled from the public domain. I did my best to release one a week, as an experiment that lead to It's Storytime. This is Umberto Eco’s essential 1995 essay, Ur Fascism. It was shockingly relevant in in 2020, and it remains so today.

No, not even then. A system crash... crashes your system temporarily. It shouldn't fuck up any files, much less files unrelated to running the system. I suppose there could be some freak occurence where a crash happening could bork a file being read at the time. Two weeks' worth ? Fuck off.

I hate it when I accidentally crash all the video files sitting on disk and also crash the backups of said system

Even then, the procedure after a crash would have been to pull the drives and extract the data, not shrug and pretend it never happened. Also, I kinda miss Solaris, weirdly.

The only time I ever saw a "crash" mess with files involved an NFS mount on Solaris. In 1998. We are well beyond that sort of thing now.
