@climatejesper.bsky.socialNature research paper: Agricultural liming is a carbon sink in the Mississippi River Basin go.nature.com/3VeBalg
Show PostWell, congratulations on the paper in actual Nature! How fancy and expensive.
Show PostI am quite pleased to see that the vast majority of the papers report a positive agronomic impacts of the rock dust soil amendments. To me, farmer acceptance is more important than the Monitoring, Verification and Reporting. MRV is crucial for carbon markets, but CDR is good even if not paid for.
Show PostGood luck with this line of research to help monitor Enhanced Rock Weathering. I hope it proves useful towards making Monitoring, Verification and Reporting robust and less expensive. @hausfath.bsky.social
Show PostMany of these soil processes seem to have a lag phase roughly similar to a PhD project. So the lag gets a lot of study. We need long-term projects to find out the real effects of management interventions. Beginning students should jump on projects in their tenth year, not only start fresh.
