@f33lthesun.bsky.social My annual dive into festive sandwiches and snacks starts today. I’ll rate it later.
Show PostWe had a primary maths specialist join my team and I loved it. She had a similar background in getting her subject knowledge up before joining us and I was careful in timetabling her. A lot of secondary schools would love to have you (if I had a vacancy I'd be trying to hire you now!)
Show PostIt's pretty common for secondary to have non specialist staff teaching maths because it's a shortage subject, so not knowing all of the higher tier content wouldn't be a massive barrier a lot of the time, especially if you bring something else to the team, such as primary experience!
Show PostThere are lots of secondary schools that would love to employ an experienced primary teacher to focus on KS3 maths classes. If you're good with the foundation GCSE content you probably wouldn't even need to do a subject knowledge enhancement course first.
Show PostHave you considered FE? A lot of FE teaching focuses on foundation gcse. You may not need to retrain. I have a colleague that went from primary straight into an FE job.
