Finally, as an aside, I'd note that film and TV already do this better - Band of Brothers spares no punches. If video games want to be taken seriously as an art form, they need to follow suit - they need to have the courage to deliver the facts, unvarnished.

So does the representation of WWII in one video game matter? Perhaps not. Does the fact that *most* games about this period cowardly dodge discussing the truth of the regimes they depict, indulging in the 'cool army stuff' and avoiding the rest, does *that* matter? Yes, obviously, yes it does.
