Can I just say that I loved being a research scientist, but waking up every day to put science on a canvas is even more delightful. Like I legit get so excited to wake up and paint sometimes that I can’t fall asleep!

I'm going to say one more thing about this. A meta-thing, if you will. I think legal commentators with elite legal backgrounds (all of them, not just Steve) need to reckon with the fact that they have a personal interest in maintaining the panache of their credentials.

They may think they're being rational. They may think that they're truly thinking about things from all angles. I doubt that this is true.

The reason I am saying this is that I found that the way I thought and spoke about the Supreme Court as an institution changed when I quit the legal profession and decided I wasn't going to go back.
