There are, today, 2 or 3 NM counties along our Tx border that have separatists, and Tx wants. I doubt anything comes of it.

The Confederates needed NM to get to Calif gold. Two battles here. The second was near Santa Fe at Glorieta. The Texans won, but their supplies and horses were discovered and destroyed, so they had to retreat. It’s called The Gettysburg of the West.

Oh no worries! I am a retired history teacher, and taught NM history. The first time, 1840s, was when we were part of Mexico. The Texans were part way here in the dry eastern side of NM, and Gov Manuel Armijo rescued them, then sent them to Mex City for trial. The next was the US Civil War. 1/2
