So much about Raichu feels like Pokemon Co regrets ever having Raichu exist. You can take a wilder, undomesticated design approach to future Raichu powered up forms, but that could mean players who want the strongest Pikachu have to evolve it. And they do not want that. Ever.

Alolan Raichu takes slight inspiration from Pikachu, but not enough to be a problem and does something new with it. It's much like Hisuian Goodra takes an aspect from contemporary Sliggoo in the best of ways. So much can be done with Raichu, but they never touch upon it. I get it. But it's sad.
