Yep. That's why I tell my authors when we shelve a book because it wasn't the right time for it that, if the market ever shifts back in its favor, I will be pulling it out of cold storage so fast . . . Nothing ever dies, it's just waiting for its moment. #kidlitchat

I've heard you say this quite a few times over months of #KidLitChat, so I say DO IT. No more waiting! Embrace your passion projects. I've only been hearing agents and editors encourage us to write our 'weird' lately. Thats the best path forward IMO.
Show PostYeah, you'll have a better chance of success with it under 45k words. That sounds brutal, but I keep hearing that number from pubs. Or at least under 50k. The MG I sold last year, the author had cut it to 48k and that's one thing that made it appealing to the publisher who acquired it. #kidlitchat
