I don't have good instincts. My thoughtfulness & kindness, such as they are, are heavily intentional & carefully maintained grafts on selfish stock. So I am always really proud when that works, as it did tonight (in a family situation) & my first response is in line w/the well-being of people I love

people sometimes tease me for to greater or lesser degrees plating everything, a little snack, a slapdash meal weeknight meal, a mostly pre-made dessert, but i really like it lol. i enjoy the food more when it looks nice, and it feels nice to be nice to yourself
