Hi all! I've received many questions about the Zeta cards previewed today and their common rarity. These cards listed from SLZ (such as Baleful Strix, but there are more) will not change Pauper legality. Secret Lair reprints are not meant to impact Pauper. Thanks! #wotcstaff

Very curious to hear myself and was going to ping them if you didn't. As of 2 years ago, my understanding was that the PFP wasn't expecting secret lairs to ever downshift anything to common.

I vaguely remember a Maro tumblr where they said that they go out of their way to not design for pauper because its "against the spirit of the format"

When I have the nuts or when I don’t, my win is determined by whether or not my opponent (the Skybreaker) plays well with what they have. It feels like I have less agency than playing against Phyrexian Dreadnaught in Premodern.
