There was a bit of a family crisis this summer, and in the course of dealing with it I said going forward I’d come visit once a month to do any random chores she needed done. I’ve hung pictures, put up a Rubbermaid shed, and introduced her to Lysol Lime & Rust toilet cleaner (they have a well).

Helped my mom swap her clothes from summer to winter. Convinced her to dump the stuff she was making disparaging comments about in a donation bag. Went through the stash of purses/wallets/etc. likewise. Also got permission to take home a pink wool Mexican embroidered shawl I’ve always loved. Win!

I have never been to a tabletop gaming con (I have been a guest at several video game events, but not any board game cons). I want to go to one. This might be the year.

Reminds of when Peter David did a prose retelling of Spider-Man's origin. When Peter Parker first met J. Jonah Jameson, Jameson proudly told him that no one could ever excuse Jameson of being racist or sexist because he was equally a rude jerk to everyone, no matter their ethnicity or gender.
