I do think it's easy to, in pushing back against this, to end up sounding like the validation stuff is Inherently the Problem and no, it's fine, but it's also a bandaid on the actual problem. Folks are getting mad about this and- a statement can be true in the literal words of it and still be deployed in harmful ways. Like, yeah, it's true, I was trans before I medically transitioned. But that wasn't the question I needed answered or asked. I needed to be asked if I was *happy*.

I’ve said this before but I’ll repeat: “Social contagion”-wise: Trans people ourselves, we’re not some disease, thanks. Transphobia *is* socially contagious — and deadly (to trans people) … Hope this helps!
