We were a bit early in our predictions but unfortunately quite accurate - we're heading for a world of shortages and we can't manage them with neoliberal state institutions.
Show Postyesterday I spoke at the TS Lombard conference on Capital Markets, and it was shocking how little investors talked about the AI bubble, at least on the stage. everyone is pretending that 40% growth in US tech stocks in the past 6 months is not a mania but God's productivity gift.
Show Postin shock that Perry Mehrling has died. He was influential in many ways. my students loved his shadow banking work, clearer than the mainstream stuff. My contributions on critical macro finance drew on (and often against) the money view. RIP Perry. Hope there are balance sheets where you went.

As for many here, Perry Merhling was hugely influential and helpful in my early academic years when I was trying to make sense of shadow banking/modern finance. I watched his YSI lectures countless times. The King of the balance sheet is dead,vive la balance sheet.
