With respect, your argument defeats itself. You say Russia won’t attack NATO because it would be disastrous — but why would it be disastrous for them? Because NATO countries, including the UK, have invested in credible military deterrence.

OTD in 1997 Russia & NATO signed the “Founding act on mutual relations, cooperation and security” in which we promised not to use force on anyone & respect borders. Lol It makes no mention of any promise by NATO not to admit new members. Odd, given it’s so very important to us.

I don't think it's a trap, on the contrary. The Russians will prove that they don't want peace. The only thing to fear is Trump's instability.
