The funny thing about fair use is that regular people who were genuinely using fair use for things like playing a five second intro to something, or accdentally playing a song in a game would get ground to a pulp, yet these companies who obviously were abusing it saw nothing wrong until too late.

Relatedly, we have been gobsmacked at the Bartz v. Anthropic ruling for $1.5 billion. Funding agencies, foundations, and my university have all supported financially my work. the investment for my book Anthropic stole was about $130,000. The press and I will get $3,000. That's legalized larceny.

Of course they knew what were doing. It’s their business model!! Steal the collective intellectual property of all mankind and then sell it back to us and hoard all the profits. They’ll be shocked when they realize that’s not a world even they will want to live in.
