Labour in the U.K.? Well to the Democrats’ right on immigration and trans rights. The SPD in Germany? A flailing party that just had one of its former chancellors pay Putin a birthday visit. Socialist Party in France? A rump. The left-wing parties? Weirdly chauvinistic and conspiratorial.

Democrats are also more progressive on immigration than pretty much all their European counterparts today. American progressives should enthusiastically embrace these facts and embrace having one of the world’s leading parties on social justice and equality.
