@nyswrcc.bsky.socialGreat points! One thing jumping out to me is the MD topic. Here in NYS, @nyswrcc.bsky.social literally converts these to plain-language briefings for state/local EMs cause they're often jargon ladened & very easy to miss. Curious the extent to which non-NYS EMs actually use them in their raw forms.
Show PostThought provoking thread here. Regardless of your position, probabilistic intentions + deterministic outcomes are a messy combo. Also, an opportunity to "brag": Ethan is one of our meteorologists at the @nyswrcc.bsky.social. I love that we have people this passionate about weather communication.
Show Post“With warmer temps from climate change, you're going to have a warmer November... if you have warmer lake temps & you get a burst of intense cold air, that's going to make lake effect events a lot more significant." - Allison Finch, #UAlbany's @nyswrcc.bsky.social time.com/7336821/than...
Show PostThis has been a *long* time in the making. What started as an idea for teaching utilities how to make weather forecasts morphed into teaching state EMs about meteorology. Thankfully, @albany.edu provides a credentialing system for non-students once a course is approved.
Show PostA really innovative move toward making sure good weather forecasts translate to the best actions by officials. More innovation from @nyswrcc.bsky.social which I wrote about in www.cloudwarriorsbook.com Congrats @nickpbassill.bsky.social and colleagues. Hope other states are watching.
