After debuting his "sleeping car" to transport the slain president Abraham Lincoln, his train cars were in high demand. Being as slavery just ended, Pullman hired mostly formerly enslaved men to be Porters (flght attendants) to take care of his clientele.

And guess what.....he didnt pay them. By hiring formerly enslaved men, he gave rich whites the opportunity to ride in elegance while also being treated to the amenities of slaves. They were already well mannered and accustomed to taking care of white folks. And being abused by them
