Outran this tractor today and that's about it. Maybe saving the hardest terrain for the last day of an 80 mile week was a bad idea. This was supposed to be 18 miles, but 13.5 more than ate my lunch. My legs felt good. No soreness or stiffness. Just wasn't feeling a hard push. Heat and time on feet!

Partnerships at Barkley are fragile. Run together while it helps but the moment one slows, you leave. Laz calls the worst pairing host and parasite; 🦠 one navigating, one surviving. If only one runner is doing the work, both are doomed. Barkley exposes every weakness. #BM100

Laz’s finishers stories part 2 is out over on mushbook to read… At the Barkley, finishers often come through the pipeline; runners who fail again & again but show the rare mix of skill, toughness & stubbornness the race demands. #BM100

Legends of the pipeline: Horton losing his glasses mid-race and quitting; Wood stopped by a raging river; Tilden beating Nelson by 3 minutes after Nelson took a 10-minute nap on loop 5. 😴 At Barkley you don’t have to be the best at anything but you must be good at everything. #BM100

Morgen ist übrigens der Grunewald100. Das ist wie #bm100 nur ein bisschen leichter, weil halt in Berlin. Falls wer spontan starten will, es gibt noch exakt einen Startplatz. Schreibt Markus auf Insta an. #nevernotrunning #ultrarunning #teamlaufen
