@philippebatut.bsky.social1/5 Telomerase has long been linked to chromosome maintenance in eukaryotes. Now, we show that telomerase-like activity is also present in bacteria, shedding new light on its ancient origins. Excited to share that our work on DRT10 is now out in @nature.com! www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Show Post1/10 Genome maintenance by telomerase is a fundamental process in nearly all eukaryotes. But where does it come from? Today, we report the discovery of telomerase homologs in a family of antiviral RTs, revealing an unexpected evolutionary origin in bacteria. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
Show PostExcited and grateful to have received a grant from @bwstiftung.bsky.social to study how the epitranscriptome impacts epigenome maintenance across cell division🤝🧑🔬⚖️ Kudos to Boyang in the lab for spearheading this project!💪🙌
Show PostCome join us April 2027 for the next instalment of the EMBL Chromatin and Epigenetics meeting. Great invited speakers and lots of talks selected from abstracts! It will be a fantastic meeting (despite the egregious nucleosome images...)
Show PostThis is a really cool finding, congrats! It also reminds me of a recent paper from John Lis's lab showing that LTR promoter transcription in the NMU enhancer attenuates its activity: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/42468524/. So it appears to be a broader mechanism?
