I had a my first sleepover at that classmate's home. He had a big TV for the time. That was where I first watched the episode of The Simpsons where Homer gets poisoned eating poorly prepared blowfish, with a group of my classmates. I dropped my toothbrush in a puddle by the apartment building.

As blood arced under the steamy lights of the packed theatre, spraying from my classmate's hand and Cruise's mouth, I wondered if this was staged or real. I had shared a beer with my classmate (who I haven't met since I was a child) in a bar inside the crowded commune prior to the fight.
