Most Bitcoiners aren’t a fan of some of the large corporations undertaking bitcoin mining operations. We’d prefer if it was less industrialized. The network doesn’t care. If they all go offline tomorrow, difficulty adjustment would adjust the hash difficulty and the solo miners would carry on!

As bitcoins hash rate and energy usage has increased over time, the efficiency of the mining hardware themselves J/Ths has improved drastically and renewable energy usage has increased.

Nobodies claiming bitcoin is “100% green”. But Bitcoin miners are very highly incentivized to use and find untapped energy sources where cost of kWh is very low, such as byproducts from existing production plants, wasted heat output, gas flaring, etc. Hydro, nuclear, and solar are sought most.
