Story: in late 2004 I was at the house of the director of an amdram show I was in. His housemate said, “You guys, you have to come see this bizarre fucked up thing on my computer!” We all followed her into her room and proceeded to be very disturbed but kind of delighted by Salad Fingers. /1
Show PostWhile I was in this room, I couldn’t help but notice an excellent collection of Terry Pratchetts (always a green flag), and an even more excellent collection of DVDs, including two movies I’d been keen to see but had never been released in the country (South Africa). /2
Show PostThe movies were Shaun of the Dead and Ghost World, and I immediately asked if I could borrow them, and the lovely owner said I could. She told me later that she disliked lending out DVDs, but that anyone who was so excited to see those movies must be a decent sort who would take care of them. /3
Show PostReader, I married her in 2008. And I just told her about finding the creator of Salad Fingers here, and she said, “Tell them that they were inadvertently responsible for our entire relationship!” 😆😆 If I hadn’t gone into her room to watch a bizarre cartoon, who knows…? So THANK YOU, Salad Fingers! ❤️
