Y'all get a highlight reel here on social media, but I spend most of the day thinking about the stuff that didn't work out. The first time some big-deal people ask you for a pitch, you pee yourself like a chihuahua and spend weeks on it. By round 10, you're like "No, I have real work to do." lol.

Like, ittybitty beans. TINY beans. I was smashed flat in my play for Culture novel GNs not because someone else was willing to pay more for those specific rights, but because it was literally not worth anybody's time to carve those rights out specifically for me. Easier to just sell it all at once.

Humbling experience that I became keenly aware they would rather sell those rights to someone who would (likely) never use them than me, because that was just easier! But so it goes. I got a lotta stories like that. Everyone who reaches for brass rings does. We fail a lot.

Without spreading my business around/tipping my hand too much, there are ALWAYS folks interested in adapting works to GNs. The issue is finding the balance between the cost of the license, the size of the audience, and format/quality/enthusiasm of the adapted work. But also: comics are small beans.

Reboot "Columbo" so I can write the episode about a grieving family attempting to seek justice for a Kick streamer who was a known alcoholic that was sober for 5 months, but then a big bill came in, he did shots for tips, and died in a drunken misadventure while being goaded on by chat donations.
