I would've given my remaining eye-tooth to be able to stop and linger and peer at the embroidery stitches, but we were all asked to keep shuffling on and let everyone have a good look, which, fair.

There are spooky eels! And birds! And people stripping chainmail off the dead soldiers! And a weird little nekkid dude! And dragons! And cooking pots! And a bishop in full armour waving a club! And people lurking behind pillars and a chap up a tree! And lots and lots of magnificent horses!

OK, so, OK, the Bayeux Tapestry, is FANTASTIC. There's Normans eating kebabs! There's Harold with his tunic tucked into his knickers wading to his ship while carrying his dog! There are sea-sick horses! Halley's Comet! Daintily embroidered penises! Drinking horns! Harold has a glorious moustache!
