I have yet to be convinced that reading a novel does more imaginative and intellectual work than reading a poem. How reading is assessed bothers me.

I like novels and short stories but I'm not a purist or someone who really believes in the idea that there's only one way to assess value. And part of that is because so much of how value is assigned/understood can't really be separated from the technological contexts that reading takes place in.
