With regard to transition, it was similar for me. I grew up in conservative religious home in a small town during the 80's AIDS panic. There were no out queer people, much less trans people. And it was before the internet. So there was no way I could know that there were people like me.

There are times that being a parent is one of the most special things in my life, and absolutely fills me with joy. …and then there are the times when my 7-year old is screaming that he hates me and that I’m the worst person in the world because he spiraled out of control after I interrupted him.
