Posting this because there’s a misconception that being challenged/banned is good publicity that’ll boost sales. In my experience, the opposite is true.
Show PostY‘all know that book banning negatively impacts sales, right? Especially when the authors are mid-list and marginalized. As a Lipan Apache, I’m familiar with erasure, and this is erasure. What’s more, readers who need our stories can’t access them.
Show PostThe only people who think book banning is good publicity are authors who sell so many copies they wouldn't notice. Okay, cool, the ban didn't sink Stephen King's career? Try interviewing a queer author whose book hasn't hit four digits.
