I go by gut feeling, whatever interests me most. Typically I order 3-5 of my actual preferred books and start with one. Also I sometimes read multiple books in parallel (sequential), when I find some not that appealing or demanding to read. Also I read fast. I finish good books in 1-2 weeks.
