a lot of what people call "slop" now was called "shovelware" before. AI has worsened this problem and made people more broadly aware of the value of human creativity without a doubt but this is the direction things were heading in regardless

maybe having Valve ban the tech would be okay for some people, but a) it's becoming increasingly hard to know where to draw that line, b) devs will lie regardless, and c) it doesn't solve the larger problem that we shouldn't have a monopolized digital platform like this propping the industry up

this is a problem with having a monopolized digital platform and curators/reviewers/critics and communities getting destroyed by social media algorithms. i don't trust Valve to do anything, because it's not a problem that should be solved by platform owners anyway - and i don't trust what they'd do.
