the contempt for district-court fact finding has grown to outrageous levels, despite (or rather, due to) its being a curb on the powers of appellate courts. not much “originalist” about that.

Plus: three things wrong with Alito's dissent (though there were more to choose from). Numbers 1 and 2: it "saw fit to wave away overwhelming unrebutted testimony and submissions on the compliance question from election administrators of both parties" and accepted an obsolete security rationale.
