Show PostDid some nobles become betrothed (but generally not wed) at age 12? Certainly. Were there marriages among the nobility at 15-16? Yes. Was this a viable state of affairs for a peasant household where both spouses were expected to work and make a living or starve to death? Absolutely not.
Show PostIt's also worth noting that marriage (and marriage, sex and children all went hand in hand!) has *not* changed the way we might expect since the early modern period. Nobility are not a representative sample - most women got married at the same ages they did in the 2000s (age 24 or so) for centuries.
