@elkanchoo.bsky.socialThe cover-up is worse than the crime really applies. Even when the original crime was itself a kind of cover-up. That prosecutors screw up bad is bad & deserves systemic correction. That prosecutors fly into active denial in the face of proof they screwed up bad is - still human.
Show PostBut that prosecutors can and do convert denial into re-feeding the proven innocent back into the mangle of gross prosecutorial misconduct - rather than going to therapy - really breaks public trust that the system is working remotely as it should.
Show PostPeople who know the job, and do it, surely wouldn’t do this. Nothing like this.
Show PostA perverse drive to re-prosecute the proven innocent, that kicks the system into backwards gear, proves the machine does not work right. Demonstrably sloppy work is less shocking than proof there is this drive to ‘get the guy’ that regularly rises to the level of utter delusion & moves the state.
Show PostThere shouldn’t be a PATTERN of cases in which prosecutors go all Javert on some guy whose only crime was getting proven NOT to have stolen the bread after all. That there is enough likelihood of prosecutors going crazy, like that, that we can say - yeah, that’s what the job does to your head?
