I always hated this because it read like an excuse to continue buying whatever in the name of "supporting the devs" when we all know they're getting laid off regardless. Devs already got paid, all that money is just going back to the company that fired them

I realize not every dev will agree with me, and I understand the arguments for continuing to show up to events like this. But I hope we all agree: we need awards shows run by creatives, for creatives. Not corpo shit that will dump us the moment it's convenient.
