That makes total sense. First person present can make those “everything just changed” moments land in real time.. Honestly, scene level tension and emotional pacing like this are one of my favorite things to help authors polish ✨

That’s usually the sweet spot in revision when you realize the story was already pointing to something and you just hadn’t placed it yet 😭...Do those new scenes shift the emotional direction at all, or mostly deepen what’s already there?
