The @PANYNJ opened the South Walk, expanding access for pedestrians and cyclists who use the George Washington Bridge, the world's busiest bridge. The North Walk opening in 2023 already led to more use - ~2,700 people walked/cycled per weekday in 2025, up from 1,700 in 2018.

Syracuse is tearing down the I-81 viaduct that split its city for decades and replacing it with a street grid that reconnects the neighborhoods the highway cut apart. If Syracuse can rethink its highways, so can NYC.
