I don’t get very excited by ladybirds, all a little too similar. But this one caught me eye scuttling up the kitchen window as a bit too big for the ‘usual’ black ones. Rhyzobius forestieri, an Australian species first recorded in UK in 2014, and first record for me today! #Coleoptera #Coccinellidae

If I’d known this was a ladybird, I’d have got a better photo 😆

My region is experiencing a huge loveliness of ladybird beetles. They are everywhere. I mostly have flowering groundcovers instead of lawn so even walking around the garden is an exercise in attention and care. #Invertebrates #LadybirdBeetles

Somehow I found myself falling into rhyming as this one began to take shape, so I let it run. Also, the photo is influenced by all those on BS who have shown me the beauty of the insect world, which I never paid too much attention to in the past. #Verse #Poetry #ECK #Nature #LittleThings #ForFun
