I think the show's aware by now that these Dr. Ookido segments will never get dubbed for international audiences and so they allow themselves to be as violent as they want to without any worries.

The closed captions identify the man who throws young Lang into the cellar as his father, while the men who find him the next day are simply referred to as "men." In other words, you could very easily infer that Lang's father died in that tornado.
