Taxes are simply the membership fee to live in a society with other people, that entitles you to make use of the public services offered by that society. You can't complain about the fee while still demanding to use services like roads and fire dept. Don't like it? Find a desert island to live on. 🤷‍♀️

The generation that got to buy cheap houses thanks to a postwar construction boom, then blocked new housing construction to juice their asset values is now whining that they have to pay taxes on their unearned wealth. Just breathtaking selfishness.
