Is Toriel an alcoholic? I think seeing their parents out of control is especially upsetting for younger children, because that's who they rely on for everything. Toriel certainly isn't a neglectful parent, but it also must be difficult for Kris to see her waffle between extremes.
Show PostBelatedly agreeing with you about how hard folks are in Toriel. I think there's a tendency to "side" with the main character in a story, and not necessarily look at any character who might upset them as a whole person with their own strengths and weaknesses who is doing their best
Show PostDay 4 is so brutal for Kris. I was definitely thinking specifically of them coming home to their mother drunk (& possibly with a new boyfriend; something VERY difficult for kids, especially with Asgore very much still a part of their life & sometimes even trying to use them to reconnect with Tori)
