Andreessen still presents himself as a man of the midwest, including to Trump donors. But he has done fuck all for Wisconsin, or the university that gave him his start. Its the same rug-pull Trump has pulled. The forgotten America are only ever useful as a rhetorical prop.

Andreessen has gotten everything he could want from Trump. He guided DOGE, but his key appointments to the administration have outlasted DOGE. He has benefited greatly from the lax crypto/stablecoin regulatory policies. He is a trusted White House advisor without the hassle of being an appointee.

The phrase "tactful fabulism" is a wonderful way of describing someone who is cordial at a meeting, but then recalls it as subject to violent disagreement and threats to his businesses. This is something Andreessen has done throughout his career.
