I do not understand how these companies are not being held accountable for misleading investors and false advertising. As for the people manipulated: many seem to be vulnerable and in need of actual social/systemic support and AI is filling that gap. Like a form of self medicating.

The “AI is conscious” discourse comes from two things 1 - AI companies that manipulate us to believe AI is “super intelligent” so they can falsely advertise it’s capabilities 2 - People who are being manipulated by those companies, who are likely being pulled into AI psychosis
