It's officially publication day for the physical volume of "A Guide to Preaching and the Homiletic Genre in Late Antique Syriac Literature," edited by myself and @philipforness.bsky.social. This has been a project many years in the making, and we are thrilled to see it finally completed.

This volume is the final product of a small conference that @philipforness.bsky.social and I co-organized way back in 2020 (though I want to be clear: Phil did most of the heavy lifting!). We had to cancel the initial conference b/c of Covid, and then held it on Zoom a year later in 2021.

We have a release date! According to the publisher, our volume on late antique Syriac homilies will be released on Sept. 23. The website doesn't have a pre-order option, so mark your calendars! @philipforness.bsky.social @degruyterbrill.bsky.social

Just received this new translation of Jacob of Serugh’s Homilies on Cain and Abel. Congratulations to @philipforness.bsky.social and Jeffrey Wickes (the translators); it looks great!

First day of classes at ACU! I’m in the history department, and my spouse is in the Grad School of Theology (which is where we met as grad students many years ago!).
