Per Timothy Snyder in Bloodlands: ~70% of the holocaust was murdered by the advancing Wehrmacht on the Eastern Front. The army simply moved from town to town, shooting anyone on sight. The SS came in afterward and mopped up anyone they missed. The remains were rounded up and died in the camps.

Model strikes me as one of the few who would have either been hanged at Nuremberg or who wouldn't have bothered with ass-covering because he was that kind of monster in life, and losing the war wouldn't have changed his mind that much.

And notably, too, taking advantage of the reality that one of Germany's most military effective soldiers and actual monster Walter Model committed suicide during the Battle of the Ruhr, so they didn't have to face the reality that a bloodthirsty avid Nazi might have written his memoirs, too.
