i'm not in a perfect state to be some role model, i struggle with mental illness, i've not physically transitioned yet, i'm no one as courageous or intelligent as ben barres was, but i think like, it's all about showing that there are so many ways to be trans. that we are an integral part of society

it made me think like... there's so many trans kids on this site. i want them to see an adult artist who designed stuff for the site they like and know that yeah, trans people are all around them. there's so many ways to exist. i'm like you, you're like me. you can be openly trans and do cool things

it's obviously not nearly so dire these days you know, but reading an article recently written by ben barres and how he took so many years to find out he was trans and transition, and only did so because of the visibility of another trans person, really shook me. that he could've died not knowing.

as the person who designed safety chia i made a neoboards thread in response to the recent transphobia stuff saying i am trans and i hope everyone who sees safety chia thinks "trans rights"! so many people replied with really sweet messages and i cant bear to take the flags off him now :') #neopets
