Even if we have the debate and we remove the Triple Lock, I refuse to have young Irish men and women risk their lives in my name before we've exhausted every other diplomatic avenue. We can't expect our young people to spill blood in our name before we've spilled ink on legislative sanctions.

As I've said, I'm open to the debate on the Triple Lock, but the narrative uses to sell this doesn't hold water. We continue to send raw materials to Russia. We are removing supports for Ukrainian refugees. We refuse to sanction Israel. We allow US military at our airports. This isn't about peace.

I truly can't recall an issue where the government have so openly worked against the will of the Irish people. Time and again, polls have shown this is a fringe position in Ireland and yet FFG are fighting tooth and nail for it. This represents a fundamental change to how we identify as a country.

Let the children and grandchildren of the 79 who voted for this be the first into the front line when the time comes - and it will come, be certain of it. And again, congratulations to all the clowns who continually vote against their own interests to put these even bigger clowns back into power.
