First off Congratulations. What an amazing study. Of course, getting any department chairs or deans to actually pay attention to what you and your colleagues found will be quite the challenge Especially when the solution may involve reprimanding or (gasp) punishing a Neanderthal w a “reputation”
Show PostWow. Well this study is my lived experience. And the devaluation got worse after I was tenured. And even when at top of my game in grants, papers etc.
Show PostThis is great! As a HS teacher (the part of life where most teachers are women) who had many amazing female professors who left after being denied tenure or full-time status, I cannot wait to read this. Thank you for your work!
Show PostExceptional and necessary work Katie. WELL DONE.
Show PostWe wanted to understand why academics leave their jobs (doi.org/10.1126/scia...). We asked: “Tell us your story: what needs/needed to be different about your position?” I thought we would get a few hundred responses and I’d learn a bit more about the context of academic retention for myself.
