I genuinely don't think it's arguable that this term is the most significant regression in queer rights (especially, but not limited to, trans people) in my lifetime & I'm 44. Not saying it's taken us back to 1985 at all, but the trajectory has been wobbling upwards for 40 years. Backwards is new.
