I don't remember seeing them explicitly state their reasoning but my guess is that they were worried about accidentally encountering people they don't like on shows without headshots? Or maybe they were worried about all white casts? But I doubt headshots would help with the latter

Years ago I saw someone say that "actual plays that don't post headshots of their cast are unsafe" and I've never let go how uncomfortable that idea makes me feel. There is absolutely no need to put your face on the internet along with the art that you make.
