i started writing prose because comics broke my body. it was something i could still do while recovering from that, and it was way faster for me to draft out stories that would have been an impossible amount of comic labor hours. and the more i do it, the more infuriating that Writer Ego becomes.

i don't mean to paint with a broad brush at all but in my personal experience there's a certain underlying desire from a number of prose authors i've met where they want to have the hardest and most demanding job in the room, which i find completely alienating

randomly remembered that time i confided to a prose author about breaking my body via the insane demands of graphic novel labor and she said she understood because of the time she had to sign hundreds of book plates that made her hand hurt
